Batik is a traditional painting and dyeing technique in the Miao settlements.

苗族蜡染是苗族地区的一种传统绘画和染制技艺。

According to the traditional batik crafts, you need to first draw the patterns on the cloth using a spatula with melting wax; after the wax solidifies, soak the cloth in the dye; then remove the wax coats, and finally, you"ll get diverse patterns on the cloth.

In recent years, Miao batik has been harnessed as a good force to boost rural revitalization in Danzhai County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province. With support from local culture-related departments, 17 Miao batik intangible cultural heritage workshops were set up by the inheritors.

近年来，贵州省黔东南苗族侗族自治州丹寨县把苗族蜡染制作技艺作为振兴乡村的重要抓手，在当地文化部门的扶持下，非遗传承人创建了苗族蜡染非遗工坊17家。

By adopting cultural elements in designing and producing tourism souvenirs, the protection and inheritance of Miao batik crafts are promoted, enabling Miao women to find jobs at local workshops and earn a better living with their hands.

采取“非遗+文创”的方式设计、制作旅游文创产品，既推进了苗族蜡染技艺的保护与传承，又让众多掌握蜡染手工技艺的苗族妇女在非遗工坊实现就业，依靠非遗手工获得增收。
